Planning Germanys "electricity highways" – but where?

WebOffice facilitates citizen engagement to plan the electric grid between north and south Germany.

Wind energy in the north, industry in the south – this situation urgently requires the construction of new power line routes through Germany. The electricity grid operators Tennet and Transnet elaborated various power line route proposals and made these accessible to the public. In this WebGIS portal, citizens can now post their comments, suggestions and concerns along the proposed routes. These comments are displayed spatially explicit as points along the proposed power line routes!

From our point of view this project is not only highlighting the capability of participative planning procedures but also the scalability of WebOffice. Boosted by media reports we actually count 275.000 map requests and 12.000 project calls – and this with an incredibly speed performance!
